* Hariati and Vivi Novitasari ( linking verb is a verb of incomplete predication. The contrary of linking between intransitive verb and transitive are : (1) the linking verb does not express action as a transitive does, (2) it serves to link its subject with some battle cry or word group in predicate, either by renaming the subject or by characterizing it. For example :
1). Mary is a friend (Mary = a friend)

2). Jim became chairman (Jim = chairman)
SC-N
The way to prove that whether the verb is linking verb or not is change the verb to tobe is. For example :
Jim became chairman Jim is chairman
Same meaning
In this case, when verb became change to is, still have the same meaning.
