In the book Silas Marner, written by George Elliot, many substantial themes are presented. It deals with the basest human emotions such as greed, prejudice, superstition, love, and isolation. Each vitrine has different traits and each fit in to these themes. But higher up either, Prejudice is the most prevalent theme. All of the great deal in Ravelo were extremely prejudiced against pop outsiders or those who they deemed were unlike them.Silas Marner is an old miser. His however joy in life is to sit at foundation and count his money. He moved to a town called Ravelo from his hometown of Lantern Yard. He was forced to do so because the people of Lantern Yard falsely accused him of a crime. When Silas arrived in Ravelo, the people looked at him as if he were an alien. Besides the fact that he is a recluse, Silas also suffers from epileptic fits, the towns people thought that these were signs that he consorted with the devil.
When Silas money, the only amour he values in life, was stolen, he seeks the help of the villagers. He goes to the Rainbow, a neighborhood tavern, to report the crime. After that episode, the towns people started to strike around a little and began to talk with Silas on occasion. Because he seeks out their help they begin to see the humanity in Silas and begin to feel pity for him.




When Eppie wanders into Silas home, he sees it as a sign that he is being given something back for all that has been take from and decides to keep her as his own child. Some people didnt think he would be a capable parent but Dolly Winthrop, who has become friends with Silas, stands up for him and supports his ability. Silas has castaway himself and as such people look down on him, when he brings himself into society, people begin to see him a a human being and even a friend and in force(p) member of society.Then there was Molly.
