The award winning cinema The Departed, is a complex but organized film. Being there is an obvious theme line but it is not forced in the movie, the heart of clues and focal points are abundant. Previous scenes are clearly punctuated by dark comedy and rapid transitions, establishing the storys unpredictable mood perfectly. bingle of the main characters is Frank Costello (Jack Nicholson), who plays an Irish mob lord that wants his surround to be shaped by him and his principles. As he walks through and through the town the audience is shown his connections to the community around him, including the police. As the movie plays on, the audience watches two officers graduate from Massachusetts State law Academy. One of the officers is a young man Frank Costello helped tabu as a boy, Colin Sullivan (Matt Damon), the audience is aware of this because of a slopped up of the boys switches scenes to a close up of the boy as a grown man. The other officer, William Costigan (Leonardo Dicaprio), is focused on objet dart in the police academy, but the audience is unsure of his purpose. The subplot of the movie, is the passage of arms between the rival police men, both trying to break away each other as the rat to the Irish mob. The circumstantial objects the television camera focuses on throughout the movie, set out hints and priorities to Costello.
The general moral of this movie is that bad guys do not always get away and that bad things can happen to them. This is demonstrate by Costello being found out in the decision and his dynasty ripped to shreds although he had a sufficient amount of moles and police agents on his side for protection. Only further proving, no matter who you shaft or what you do, karma is a bitch. From the beginning of the movie, Costellos arrogance and motive seemingly shows his power over his environment but at the same time the director proves that Costello can not concord the environment a product of himself.
